I’ve been getting a lot of calls from customers who have similar electrical questions so I thought I’d share some of the main ones here. I’ll keep adding answers to questions as they come.
Why is my power tripping?
There are many things that can trip your power. Faulty appliances, wet wiring or circuit overload are all common causes for power trips.
Do I need a safety switch?
Electricians are legally required to ensure there is a functioning safety switch on the premises, or on site, before they undertake any electrical work, such as replacement of light fittings or power points.
Can I install a fan?
Before buying a fan, check to make sure that there’s sufficient support where you want to install it. If it’s replacing an existing light fitting, you are good to go as long as there’s enough ceiling support. It might not be possible to get wiring to the location, and every ceiling is different, so you should ask your electrician to inspect it first.
